I am an evolutionary biologist who wrote two books on my theory that all species increase the biodiversity of their ecosystem in a natural environment (humans are an exception to this). I am a dedicated conservationist and founder and president of the World Rainforest Fund (worldrainforest.org), a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving the Earth’s rainforests. I collected reptiles and fossils when I was a child, and never out-grew my passion and love for science, biology, biodiversity, the natural world, animals, plants, ecology, and evolution. How Life Increases Biodiversity: An Autocatalytic Hypothesis
This book states a new hypothesis that all species make their environment better for life and create higher biodiversity (number of species) in their ecosystem in natural conditions. This excludes humans. Ecosystems maximize biodiversity. Life creates an atmosphere high in oxygen and the soil and regulates climate. Symbiosis is far more important than recognized; it greatly increases biodiversity and organizes ecosystems. Coevolution is the rule. Predators stabilize ecosystems. This book was written to present a new theory to scientists while being comprehensible to the general public. It will educate the layperson on evolution, ecology, and biodiversity. It proposes eight new principles of evolution, including all species are interconnected, no niche remains empty for long, and more positive connections between species make an ecosystem more stable.
